Introduction to the Add-In:  To see a picture of the toolbar and learn about its functions, go to the Report Enhancer Intro page.

Downloading & Installing the Add-In

Read each step carefully.  If you are instructed to skip steps, please do so.  IF YOU ARE NOT INSTRUCTED TO SKIP STEPS, MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW EACH ONE.  There are some that may seem unnecessary, like closing & reopening Excel, but IT WON'T INSTALL CORRECTLY IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY.

  1. Download the file CRI AddIn.zip and save to Desktop.  Do NOT open it!
  2. Unzip or Extract the file to your desktop.  When prompted, enter the password. (If you do not have a utility to unzip zip files go to Winzip.com to download the evaluation version of the utility.  If you have no idea what a zip file is or need a refresher, go to Information for Newcomers.)
  3. Right click the CRI AddIn.xla icon on your desktop and select Cut.
  4. If you have NEVER INSTALLED any version of this add-in, SKIP TO THE Step 12! If you HAVE INSTALLED A PREVIOUS VERSION of this add-in, then open Excel.
  5. Go to Tools|Addins.
  6. Uncheck Viewing Utilities and click OK. (This step is necessary to apply your changes.)
  7. Go to Tools|Addins and click Browse.
  8. Select the CRI Addin.xla file and press the Delete key.  When it asks if you want to send the file to the Recycle Bin click Yes.
  9. Go to View|Toolbars|Customize.
  10. On the Toolbars tab, scroll down until you see Utility.  Click on the word it so it's highlighted and click Delete.
  11. Close the window and then close Excel. (This step is necessary to apply your changes.)
  12. Open Excel.  Make sure you have a workbook open (can be a new blank workbook).
  13. Go to Tools|Add-Ins and select Browse.
  14. Right click in the white space and select Paste.
  15. Click OK to exit pop up windows.
  16. The toolbar should now be visible.  If not, check your Macro Security settings.  If it still does not appear you can email us for troubleshooting help

Macro Security: To set Macro security, go to Tools|Macro|Security.

  • If security is on high, you will not see the installed toolbar.
  • If security is on medium, it will ask if you want to enable macros.  Choose Yes to see the installed toolbar.
  • If security is on low, it won't ask.  We recommend that you do not use this setting.
